I have a weight issue – well….. not so much a weight issue, but I tend to pack on the pounds easily and since I have indulged myself in every food treat for the past few weeks, I am once again trying to lose weight fast so I get back to my regular size twelve.

If you also would like to lose weight in seven days (or more, to be realistic), here are some easy and time-tested ways you can go about achieving this.

Lose weight Technique #1: Throw Out the Junk

This goes without saying and deserves the number one spot on your journey to losing weight. You see, only a few people are large due to their genetic make-up. For the rest of us, gaining weight is a factor of what we eat and our chosen lifestyle.

Junk food are quick and filling, especially if you are on-the-go and don’t have the time to settle for a healthier meal, but they come with a great price. So, to lose weight and keep that weight off, you should purge your pantry of all extra pound-adding foods. I did this for a week- literarily went on a junk-fast and saw my weight go down fast – very fast.

Lose weight Technique #2: Reduce Your Intake of Sugars and Starches

These foods are readily available and make the bulk of our diet this part of the world, but if you want to lose weight, you have to cut back on them and substitute with other classes of food. In essence, you should aim to eat a more balanced diet. Eat more proteins ( egg, meat, fish,chicken, and pork), low-carb vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, kale, and celery), and fat (butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil).

Sugars and starchy foods stimulate the secretion of insulin and since insulin is the major fat storage hormone in the body, you should strive to reduce this.

Lose weight Technique #3: Exercise Regularly

Exercising every day would be awesome to keep those horrible pounds off, wouldn’t it, but this may not be feasible. You should go for the next best thing and exercise 3-4 times a week.

To lose weight, you need to exercise at least 30-45 minutes four times a week. It may be difficult creating the time for these exercise activities, but it’s a sacrifice you should make to lose this weight.

If you still find it hard to do so, you should opt for long walks of the same time duration. Choose to walk those distances you would ordinary take a bus to for a weeks. I do my walks/run in my compound. I wake as early as 6:30am and run around the compound 20-30 times. Earlier on, I noticed I lose a few pounds each week if I do this consistently for a few weeks and chose to adopt this method.

This is yet another effective technique to lose weight fast. A study carried out shows you lose up to 44% of your weight in 90 days if you take a glass of water twenty minutes to half an hour before each meal.

I love tea, so this is definitely good news for me. You see, tea and coffee contain caffeine which boost metabolism to make you lose weight. So if you are a tea or coffee-lover, drink away!

Lose weight Technique #6: Lose it in Five

Okay, so this is a very unconventional way to lose weight and you may not start to see the weight loss for a while, but it does works.

Losing weight in five minutes entails turning every or most little activities you do into exercise time. Play a song as you go about your regular chores and dance to your heart’s delight or turn that tv commercial into dance time and dance to it. This may not seem like much, but these times add up to help you burn those calories.

Lose weight Technique #7: give Yourself a Treat Sometimes

And you deserve it too! All those weight loss exercises are no walk in the park and you should be compensated!

I give myself a treat sometimes, especially if I have met my goal and shed off the ‘offensive’ weight. In my opinion, life would be a mega bore if we had to stick to a diet and follow it for the rest of our lives. However, I try not to overdo it so I don’t gain the weight back (this would be just depressing) and this technique works for me every time.
